This was an amazing journey, and I feel a little sad that my summer flew by so quickly. But I really hope that I will be able to come back here again and immerse myself in the atmosphere of study, new impressions, and such a wonderful friendship. Thank you, my teachers and my new friends. You made my summer unforgettable.
During this summer school course in Philips Exeter, I’ve grown a lot both academically and personally. As I get ready to start school again, I’ve learned many valuable lessons that I’ll take with me. One of the most important things I’ve learned is what it means to be an effective leader.
The following school year, I’ll be in 8th grade, and I’ve decided to join the Associated Student Body (ASB), a leadership program at my school. This course has given me the skills and knowledge I need to succeed in ASB. One key lesson is that a leader needs followers.
Being a leader isn’t just about having ideas or making decisions; it’s about inspiring others to work towards a common goal. This has changed how I think about leadership, showing me the importance of working together and influencing others.
I’ve learned several strategies and approaches that I’ll use in the future. First, active listening is very important. By really listening to others, you can understand their views, build better relationships, and create a more inclusive environment. This will be very helpful in ASB, where understanding what my peers need and care about is crucial for making positive changes in our school.
Another important strategy is effective communication. Being clear and empathetic when talking to others is key to sharing ideas and motivating them. In future leadership roles, I’ll work on improving my communication skills to ensure I can effectively share my vision and inspire others to take action.
Additionally, setting clear goals and making detailed plans is very important. Goals give direction and motivation, while plans show the steps needed to reach those goals and make sure you’re on track. This will help me stay focused and on track with various projects in ASB and other future activities.
In the future, I want to use these strategies and approaches to make a positive impact in my school and beyond. In ASB, I aim to be inclusive, help students feel like they belong, and address issues that matter to my peers. Beyond ASB, I hope to keep improving my leadership skills and use them in different areas, whether in school, extracurricular activities, or community service.
This leadership course has been very important for my growth. It has taught me valuable lessons and strategies I’ll use in the future, whether in school or outside. As I enter 8th grade and face new challenges, I’m confident that what I’ve learned will help me become a better leader and make a positive impact in my community.
Thank you, Philips Exeter and my new friends. You taught me how to be a better me.
With love, forever yours, Katrin’s Adventure. 🙂
